The Elle Apartments (Previously The Vanguard Building), one of the first office-to-residential conversions in the district, was originally home to the Peace Corps office since 1965. After recently undergoing major renovations to become the Elle Apartments, this project became a major landmark in the city’s goal to reimagine downtown as a vibrant mixed-use community. This building, especially its expansive, striking façade, became the face of this restoration and was highly visible to government officials, the media, and DC residents alike. 880 P Street: Custom Curtainwall and Window Wall Applications
The last piece of Roadside Developments prized O street Market Project The L-shaped building, one of four connected towers that make up the 1 million-square-foot City Market at O, occupies the block of 9th and P streets NW in the District. 880 P Street is a 142-unit luxury apartment building with 360-degree views, oversized balconies and floor-to-ceiling windows. Made of white brick and black framework, the final building includes “fins” that extend from window bays to provide more privacy for residents. From Brick to Glass: An Award-Winning Boutique Office Building Renovation Formerly known as the YMCA National Capital, a full brick community center, PCC was tasked to transform the 37-year-old building into an all-glass office structure. PCC, Whiting-Turner Contracting, Hickock Cole Architects, and Akridge Development were challenged to recycle the old building and provide a fully functioning workspace for small businesses in the heart of DC’s business district, close to the historic St. Matthew’s Cathedral. Wheaton Revitalization Project One of the largest projects of its kind ever built by Montgomery County, the Wheaton Revitalization Project aims to improve mobility, reduce traffic congestion, and increase use of the Wheaton Metro Station. The new development and construction of the 14-story LEED Platinum government building works to diminish negative environmental impacts and bring diverse services and employment opportunities to the area. Historic Law School Achieves LEED Gold: Natural Rainscreen Systems The 312,000 square-foot-facility, American University Washington College of Law, was designed to meet the needs of modern-law students while honoring the legacy of its historic site. Capital Hall designed in 1904 and the Chapel designed in 1921 contributed to its historic character. PCC assisted Whiting-Turner and the Smith Group JJR by providing a design assist process for the building envelope including custom curtainwall zinc composite metal panels.
